It was a lazy Sunday, late morning, pleasant weather. The sun was soft and the breeze was cool. The song in my playlist changed and ‘Upstairs’ by lovepoint started playing. I glanced at my phone to check the time and that’s when a beautiful visual caught my eye. It was something so simple, yet so colourful. It was dynamic but it was also quiet.
It was the cover art of the song.
The mesmerising visual was the cover art of the song. It was exactly what you might think it’ll be, and at the same time everything you think that it couldn’t. Perfectly radiating the exact feeling of the song, yet portraying something entirely different. The colours used were entrancing, and the simplicity of the art style gave it an air of mystery.
To talk about why this visual was so striking, I’d like to say it was the overall composition of the piece. The diagonal line passing across the canvas gave the visual a certain dynamic feel. The contrasting colours created stark shadows that added to the drama. This was all balanced by the simple, minimalist art style of the piece.
Oh, and the entire visual itself of the flower in a glass of liquid, so much story in such a few strokes. Adds mystery, doesn’t it?
The design of this cover art was truly fantastic. Am I looking into it too much? Perhaps; but why not, right? After all, the attention to details that led to such a beautiful piece is indeed inspiring!
