Mosaic has its own appeal doesn’t it? The bright colours, the geometry, the proximity; it’s all so beautiful. It is quite fantastic how these tiny squares of different colours merge together to create a complete piece, depicting a story.
Each tile of a mosaic piece contributes to the story. A perfect symbol of unity. Although minimalism might be on the rise, the unique touch of history that mosaic gives can never be replaced. Not just a story, but mosaics have an aura of risk about them. They are random and chaotic, yet orderly. Over zealous in their proximity, unafraid of the outcome, risky.
Mosaics are bold and regal, each piece unique.
I spotted these mosaic designs on a street when I was on my way back home. These eccentric designs filled the cracks on the roads, giving them a bright touch. It looked as if the street had hidden stories beneath it. A whole new town, concealed beneath this road, with its own history, its own narrative. Perhaps the town sold antique and mysterious jewels, perhaps it was the path that old kings and queens used for their stroll.
How did I come up with all that from just a few sneak peeks of these mosaics? I can’t say; maybe it was just my imagination running wild, or perhaps it was the authentic design language of these mosaics that seemed to tell their own story. But I can surely say that looking at these pieces of art on the street certainly made me want to take risks in my designs.
